Town and Country Players Present Picasso at Lapin Agile
Bringing Wit and Wonder to the Stage with Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile
Town and Country Players is excited to announce its upcoming production of "Picasso at the Lapin Agile," the wildly imaginative and delightfully witty play written by beloved comedian and actor Steve Martin. Picasso will run from May 30th through June 14th.
Set in a bohemian bar in Paris at the dawn of the 20th century, Picasso at the Lapin Agile is a clever and absurdly funny exploration of art, science, and genius. The play imagines a fictional meeting between a young Pablo Picasso (Kevin Palardy) and a young Albert Einstein (Evan Creedon), just before they change the world with their groundbreaking ideas. Kevin Palardy says, “Audiences will love the fact that there's never a dull moment in this show.” With Martin’s signature humor and a cast of quirky characters, the play examines what it means to see the world differently. “It's just been so genuinely fun transferring Steve Martin's snappy dialogue from the page to the stage that I'd find myself eagerly awaiting the next rehearsal," adds Palardy.
Jessa Casner makes her main stage directorial debut with Kierney Corliss and Dana Joy Carducci as co-producers. Casner has put her vision and heart into making Picasso spectacular. “This play is rebellious, authentic, genuine, simple, and not,” she says of the work. “It’s thought-provoking in a completely unpretentious way. It’s conversational and silly, asks big questions, and doesn’t try to offer a lot of answers; it leaves things up to interpretation,” Casner adds.
