Traffic Citations In School Zones: See Bucks County Numbers Here

See how many people have been cited over the last five years in Bucks County for illegal traffic moves around buses and in school zones.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Bucks County ranks the second highest in the state for drivers speeding in a school zone and the third highest for drivers meeting or overtaking a school bus, according to data released Wednesday by the Pennsylvania Courts.

When it comes to speeding in a school zone, Bucks County ranks second-highest among the state's 67 counties with 8.93 percent of the citations.

Neighboring Montgomery County tops the list with 31.8 percent.

Bucks County had a total of 1333 citations over the past five years for the speeding violations in a school zone. The courts provided the following breakdown:

  • 2020: 197
  • 2021: 275
  • 2022: 294
  • 2023: 293
  • 2024: 274

According to the statistics, Bucks County had the third-highest percentage of stops in the last five years for vehicles meeting or overtaking a school bus, accounting for a total of 6.75 percent of the statewide total.

Allegheny County had the second-highest percentage of stops, accounting for 17.6 percent of the statewide total.

And Montgomery County topped the list with 31.8 percent of the citations.

Bucks County had a total of 512 citations over the past five years for the violation. The courts provided the following breakdown:

  • 2020: 45
  • 2021: 71
  • 2022: 115
  • 2023: 187
  • 2024: 94

"As the new school year approaches, the Pennsylvania Courts want to remind drivers to slow down in school zones, stop for school buses, and stay alert to help ensure the safety of our students," the courts said in a release. "Over the past five years (2020-2024), 22,502 Pennsylvania drivers have been cited for school zone violations."
