A Warrington clinic is now offering coronavirus antibody testing.

WARRINGTON, PA — A Warrington clinic is now offering coronavirus antibody testing.

Passport Health announced Wednesday that it is offering COVID-19 antibody testing at five of its locations, including the one on Easton Road in Warrington.

The test can indicate that a person has had a COVID-19 infection in the past and has developed antibodies to the disease, according to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.

The test is done by blood draw and takes approximately 15 minutes, according to the clinic. Test results are available in one to three days.

You'll need an appointment. Passport Health said the test is covered by insurance but you may have a copay. To get specifics on your copay, call (800) 741-0504.

Passport Health is offering larger companies and civic organizations an on-site option of its antibody testing, the company said. Nurses are available to travel to businesses and facilities to conduct the antibody test. Call (215) 491-1111 for details. You can also visit the website.

People with coronavirus antibodies may have the ability to save lives by donating blood plasma for other COVID-19 patients as part of a new treatment for the disease.

However, the World Health Organization said it is continuing to review antibody responses to COVID-19. It noted that laboratory tests that detect coronavirus antibodies "need further validation to determine their accuracy and reliability."
