BaconFest Seeks Artists, Bakers, Elvis Impersonators

Annual celebration of bacon returns to farmers' market next month.

Easton's BaconFest is returning to the city's Farmers' Market Nov. 9, and organizers are looking for people to take part.

If you're thinking this just means they want people to show up and eat bacon...well, actually you're right.

But they're also looking for people to participate in different competitions.

First up, there's the Hog Heaven Cupcake Competition, which challenges master pastry chefs and home bakers to make bacon-themed cupcakes.

Fifteen bakers will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, and will need to be ready for judging before 9:30 a.m.

Three prizes will be awarded: People’s Choice, Judge’s Choice and Table Design. Contestants are encouraged to utilize locally sourced bacon. For more information visit www.EastonFarmersMarket.com or download an application at the BaconFest website or call 610-330-9942.

There's also the The Hunka Hunka Burnin' Bacon contest at 2 p.m. which lets aspiring Elvis impersonators show off their best voice, dance moves, and ability to make a bacon, peanut butter and banana sandwich.

Bacon and cooking stations will be provided by the market, but everything else is up to the contestants Applications can be found at the BaconFest website.

Paintings should be 16”X20” or larger and mixed media pieces or sculpture must be “bigger than a bread box.”
