Cornerstone Goes From 'Megachurch' to City Ministry
Easton church will begin new downtown services this weekend.

In 2001, the Cornerstone Church began building a "megachurch" complex in Lower Nazareth Township.
Then members of the congregation began to have doubts.
They looked to the Bible, and found examples of early Christians going out into the world, rather than having the world come to them, Pastor Tim Ackley explained in a news release.

"At that point, we questioned why we would want to be four miles outside of Easton, when so many crushing needs are right here," he said.
So the congregation came to Easton, and began worshipping inside what used to be the Grace United Church of Christ on March Street.

Now, it's ready to open a second location in downtown Easton, at 34 S. Second St., where services will begin this weekend.
This location has already been offering something called Riverside Ministry, a church service where people can also have a meal and access free canned and packaged foods, toiletries, clothing and other items donated by the congregation.
Services will be held at Cornerstone's new location Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. For more information, call the church office at 610-252-8823.
