Easton Officials to Rally For Immigration Reform
Easton mayor, councilmen, to call on Congress to "Act Now" on immigration bill.

Easton city officials are set to introduce a resolution this week calling on Congress to pass a Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill.
Mayor Sal Panto, along with city councilmen Jeff Warren and Ken Brown, will speak in favor of the legislation at a rally Tuesday in Centre Square, according to Organizing For Action–Lehigh Valley.
If the city passed the resolution, it would join a handful of communities around the country adopting similar measures, including, Boston, San Diego, and —closer to home— Philadelphia and Norristown, PA.Â
The rally is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday in Centre Square. Council will introduce the resolution at its 6 p.m. budget meeting that evening.
Panto has spoken on behalf of immigration reform in the past. Earlier this year, he appeared at a rally for so-called "Dreamers," young undocumented immigrants pushing for a path to citizenship.
The immigration legislation is designed streamline the citizenship process, while also holding undocumented immigrants accountable before they could get citizenship.
Â
It's also aimed at cracking down on companies that hire undocumented workers and adding more security to the borders.Â
