EPA Sues Chrin Landfill, Crayola, Victaulic
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency wants to recover cost of Superfund site.

The Chrin Brothers landfill, Crayola and Victaulic are all defendants in a federal lawsuit filed last week by the Environmental Protection Agency, according to published reports.
The EPA is trying to recoup the nearly $500,000 cost of monitoring toxic waste at Chrin's Williams Township landfill.Â
The suit says toxic materials were found at a now-inactive part of in 1983. It became part of the Superfund program the next year, the Morning Call reported.
Crayola, Victaulic and two other companies were named in the suit as businesses that sent hazardous materials to the landfill.
Chrin said it and the other defendants were "voluntarily accepting" the cost of paying for the clean-up, according to the Express-Times.
The Superfund program is a federal effort established in 1980Â to control and clean up hazardous waste sites. A complete list of Superfund sites in Pennsylvania can be found here.
