Halloween Parade, Haunted Walking Tour This Weekend

A look at what's happening in Easton this weekend.

Halloween is still a week away, but there's plenty of spooky stuff happening in Easton before Oct 31. Let's see what the weekend has to offer.

1. The annual Easton-Phillipsburg Halloween parade returns Sunday afternoon. The parade is scheduled to start in New Jersey at 3 p.m. before crossing the river into Easton.

2. Have you ever wanted to learn the darker side of Easton's history? The annual Haunted Easton Walking Tour is your ticket. The tour leaves from Centre Square at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. You can buy tickets online, or at the Easton Main Street office, at 35 S. Third St. (The tour is not recommended for kids due to adult language/scary content. Children need to be accompanied by an adult.)

3. The Easton Farmers' Market Scarecrow Fest returns for its 16th year Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Although the event includes things like a pumpkin pie bake-off, storytelling and other Halloweenish activities, the highlight is the scarecrow building contest. Be sure to read our story from last week for more information.

4. Magician David Caserta brings his Haunted Illusions show to the State Theatre Sunday at 5 p.m. Back in August, Caserta visited the theater and delivered a CD containing a series of predictions he had made. It's been locked up since then, and he'll open the show by playing the CD.

5. The Sigal Museum presents Peter Osbourne's talk "Silent Cities: Graveyards, Churches and Cemeteries" Saturday at 1 p.m.

6. Batuque holds its Bloody Halloween Bash Saturday night at 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, or $15 at the door.

7. LaPazza Bar at 1251 Ferry St. holds its Family Out Night, an occasional LGBT social, Friday at 8 p.m.

8. The Easton Kiwanis Club holds its pancake fundraiser breakfast, Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Appleby's on Route 248.

9. Local singer-songwriter Brittany Ann performs Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at ConneXions. She'll be joined by Connor Garvey, a musician from Portland, Maine.

10. Sample Hungarian food Saturday at First Presbyterian Church's Hungarian Dinner, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the church. It's $15 for adults, and $8 for students. Kids 5 and under get in for free. Reservations are suggested. Contact 610-258-4259 or shirlbimvannorman@verizon.net.

11. Rivals Sports Bar has a weekend-long, Heaven and Hell-themed Halloween party. There's live music Friday Saturday and Sunday: the Philadelphia Funk Authority Friday at 7:30 p.m., Uncle Rocco Saturday night at 7:30 and Emily's Toy Box playing a block-party show Sunday at 5 in front of the bar.
