'I Could Go to Jail!' Wilson Man Accused of Cutting Girlfriend
Javier Ortiz charged with assaulting his girlfriend during an argument last month.

Wilson police say a borough man cut his girlfriend's finger and threatened to stab her during an argument earlier this month, then panicked about what he'd done.
Javier Ortiz, 38, of the 2100 block of Birch Street, is charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threats.
According to court records, police were called to Ortiz's home Sept. 4 for a domestic disturbance.
They found his girlfriend with a paper towel over one of her fingers, spotted with blood.
Police say the girlfriend told them she and Ortiz fought after she caught him going through her cellphone. He slashed her with a steak knife, and threatened to stab her.
When he saw that she was cut, he began to panic, police said: "I could go to jail!"
But Ortiz didn't go to jail right away, having left the scene. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was arraigned Tuesday night before District Judge Richard Yetter in Wilson. Ortiz was sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $7,500 bail.
