• Luzerne County Council to vote on one-time bonuses for security officers (timesleader.com) — Edwardsville’s magisterial court is set to return to its renovated Russell Street building under a new five-year lease, after a fire forced a temporary move to Forty Fort. At the same meeting, Luzerne County Council will vote on $10,000 bonuses for five security officers and adjust timelines for several American Rescue-funded infrastructure projects.
   

• Funeral Directors Association contributes to Fork Over Love (timesleader.com) — An Edwardsville-based nonprofit, Fork Over Love, just received a $1,000 boost from the Luzerne County Funeral Directors Association’s annual Christmas campaign, helping support local residents in need this season. The group also directed donations to Hazleton’s Seeds of Hope and the Bikes for Tykes campaign, highlighting a broader regional push to assist vulnerable neighbors during the holidays.
   

• Luzerne County Flood Protection Authority to interview for new chief (citizensvoice.com) — If you own property in Edwardsville protected by the Susquehanna River levee, your annual flood protection fee will stay the same for 2026. The Luzerne County Flood Protection Authority, which oversees the levee system shielding Edwardsville and neighboring towns, has approved its new budget and will soon interview candidates to replace its retiring executive director.
