“An Evening with Beethoven” Saturday in Swissvale

Living Spirit Ministries is hosting this musical event.

The life and music of composer Ludwig van Beethoven will be the subject of a multimedia program at 7 p.m. Saturday at the .

Hosted by Jerry Schneider, the church’s music director, “An Evening with Beethoven” will explore the compositions and tribulations of the virtuoso pianist and composer through film, live performances, recordings and narrative.  Admission is free.

Beethoven is generally regarded as the world’s greatest composer. Because he began losing his hearing in his mid-20s and was completely deaf for the last 10 years of his life, his accomplishments and contributions to the evolution of classical music are especially remarkable.

The program will cover all three of Beethoven’s compositional periods. Live performances will be by Schneider; Akash and Ishan Levy, who attend Taylor Allderdice High School; Kingston Cox, a student at Pittsburgh’s Liberty School; Rocco Turano, a Pittsburgh student, and David Morgan and Izariah Jones, students.
