Second grade students at Edgewood Elementary Friday presented "Events That Changed a Nation" in celebration of Black History Month.
Students recited poems, quotes and songs remembering great African-American leaders in the United States both past and present. Thurgood Marshall, Rosa Parks, President Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey all were honored at the event. Students also remembered moments in black history, including the Montgomery Bus Boycott and Brown VS the Board of Education.
A group of students also presented a rap song called "You Can Be Like Martin," in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. as the audience, which included parents, teachers and fellow students, clapped to the beat.
