Edgewood Presbyterian Church Receives Grant
Original doors on the historical building will be restored this month.
The Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation recently awarded a grant to the First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood, which will assist in the restoration of the building's original exterior doors.
Work will begin this month by Gregory Heisler, Interior Wood Restoration. The grant is a matching fund in which FPCE matches the donated $5,000 to restore the 13 original oak exterior doors.
The historical past of the building began before 1891, when members of three communities, including Swissvale, Wilkinsburg and Edgewood (incorporated Dec. 1, 1888) worked together to approve a building erected for a community to gather, share and worship.
