Woodland Hills Receives Grant to Promote Healthy Living
Heinz Endowments gives grant to school district.

The Heinz Endowments has awarded the Woodland Hills School District a $200,000 grant to conduct a two-year pilot program to educate and empower students in healthy lifestyles.Â
The grant will be used at the high school. Staff is currently conducting research to aid in the development of the program, according to a news release. Details about the program will be available this summer.
The program will most likely begin in 2011-12 school year. The initial plan for the program is to focus on healthy nutrition, lifelong exercise, stress reduction and positive self-esteem. A health centered lifestyle approach will focus on the whole person.

It is the project’s overall goal to help teenagers demonstrate an understanding of healthful behaviors they can easily incorporate into their lives and which will enhance their growth and development.Â
