• Berks food safety inspections found 23 violations at restaurant, including excessive old food debris,trash (readingeagle.com) — Several Hamburg eateries, including 1787 Brewing Company, Hamburg Diner, Logan’s Roadhouse, and Wawa on Lowland Road, were recently inspected, with most violations involving sanitizer levels, date-marking, and cleaning issues. All remain open while they correct problems, and residents can review full inspection details online for any Berks County food business they visit.
   

• Who is he? Genetic genealogy revives 2003 Schuylkill River mystery in Berks (readingeagle.com) — A long-running mystery involving an unidentified man found along the Schuylkill River just southwest of Hamburg in 2003 is getting new attention through advanced DNA forensic genealogy. Berks County’s coroner and Chief Deputy Coroner George Holmes, who is also Hamburg’s mayor, recently exhumed the remains for testing, hoping to finally identify the victim and bring closure to any surviving family.
   

• Calendar: Dec. 17, 2025 (republicanherald.com) — Families in the Hamburg area can catch Santa at nearby Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s locations, where he’ll arrive for a free parade-style event with treats, activities, and photos through Dec. 24. The wider calendar also highlights food pantries, senior exercise and walking clubs, church clothing closets, and seasonal programs across Schuylkill and surrounding counties, many within an easy drive of Hamburg.
