Juniper Village at Lebanon Answers “Call for Artists”

Juniper Village at Lebanon Answers "Call for Artists" with Two Residents Earning a Spot on Soon-to-be 8th Street Banners

June 12, 2024 (Lebanon, PA) Juniper Communities, a leading provider of senior living communities, is thrilled to announce that two of its talented residents, Lydia Keffer and Fred Olson from Juniper Village at Lebanon, have been selected to have their stunning artwork featured on two of the eight “Arts on 8th” banners. This initiative celebrates the rich history of the Lebanon community, its beautiful people, history, landscape, and local artists.

The City of Lebanon asked local artists to contribute their creative visions for banners to be displayed on city-owned light poles as part of their public art and beautification project. The goal is to infuse the city with vibrant, eye-catching banners that not only beautify but also create an arts-enriched environment and showcase the incredible local talent.

Keffer’s artwork depicts the Union Canal Tunnel, the oldest existing water transportation tunnel in the United States and is recognized as a National Historic Landmark. Today, the park boasts 110 miles of hiking trails, fishing, and picnic facilities, and is maintained by the Lebanon County Historical Society and the Friends of Union Canal who are responsible for keeping the park a beautiful landmark in the community.

Olson’s artwork captures the scenic farmland and animals that are an integral part of the Lebanon community. His portrayal reflects the region’s agricultural richness, offering a glimpse into the local access to seasonal produce, fresh meats, locally baked goods, and artisanal jarred items.

The banner will be revealed at the end of June during a community event recognizing the artists featured.
