Big Winner In PA As Jackpot Rolls To $1.5B For Saturday Drawing

While no one won the Powerball jackpot during the latest drawing on Wednesday, a Pennsylvania player was among a tiny few nationwide who won a smaller prize of $1 million.

The Pennsylvania player's ticket correctly matched all five white balls drawn, 25, 33, 53, 62, and 66, to win the Match 5 prize. Five other players nationwide also won.

Since the Powerball jackpot itself was not won, it now rolls to a massive $1.50 billion, with an estimate cash value of $686.5 million. To win, a player would have needed the five white balls above as well as the red Powerball 17.

Powerball tickets, which cost $2, are available in Pennsylvania at gas stations, convenience stores, and grocery stores. The next drawing is Saturday, Dec. 20, and the deadline to buy tickets is 10 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased from the Pennsylvania Lottery website.

The massive pot began accumulating in early September, after players in Missouri and Texas cashed in on the previous $1.787 billion jackpot. According to lottery officials, this is only the second time back-to-back Powerball jackpots have hit $1 billion.

Officials did not say exactly where in Pennsylvania the winning Match 5 ticket was sold.

The other Match 5 winners included three in New York, one in Connecticut, and one in Tennessee.

The chances of winning the $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot are extremely low, at about 1 in 292.2 million.
