Woman Who Killed PA Firefighter, Jumped Parole Located: Report

Khanyae Kendall, convicted of killing Harrisburg firefighter Dennis Devoe in a 2017 car crash, was arrested in Maryland by U.S. Marshals.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Authorities this week found and arrested the 23-year-old woman convicted of killing a Harrisburg firefighter in a 2017 car crash after she jumped parole and fled the state just two weeks after her release.

Khanyae Kendall, 23, was arrested Thursday by U.S. Marshals in Gaithersburg, Maryland, according to multiple reports. Before fleeing Pennsylvania, she had removed her electronic ankle monitoring device.

In 2018, Kendall was convicted of homicide by vehicle for a vehicle accident that killed Harrisburg firefighter Dennis Devoe, who was responding to a house fire.

Kendall was pregnant at the time of the crash and was also high on PCP when she stole a car and drove through an intersection, broadsiding DeVoe’s car, PennLive.com reported. DeVoe was on his way to a house fire when he was hit. Kendall fled the scene, according to PennLive.

Kendall was sentenced to up to 12 years in prison but was released on parole in March, reports said.

Kendall was turned over to Montgomery County authorities and is awaiting extradition back to Pennsylvania.
