Alleged Receipt Scam Gets Haverford Couple Arrested

Police say the couple stole more than $3,700 from 27 Giant stores in five counties.

A Haverford couple was arrested last week after they allegedly scammed Giant out of several thousand dollars by printing fraudulent receipts, according to the Spring-Ford Reporter.

Donna Ann Levonuk, 50, and Manuel Kunsman Levonuk, 55, were arrested on September 26 after they allegedly stole over $3,700 from 27 Giant branches in Berks, Montgomery, Chester, Bucks, and Delaware counties. The couple, who live on the 500 block of Montgomery Avenue, were charged with over 1,300 counts of felony theft by deception, receiving stolen property, forgery, tampering with records, and other offenses.

Their scheme, according to the paper, was this: they would purchase items from the store, make counterfeit copies of the receipts, then steal those same items from the store and return them. Police allege they made 100 such illegal returns between May 27 and August 30.
