Haverford Township Restaurants Offering Free Food Amid SNAP Uncertainty

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — With the federal government's shutdown ongoing and no end in sight, many Philadelphia-area residents may be struggling to feed their families as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is paused.

Roughly one in eight Americans use the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to purchase groceries.

And for those in the Haverford Township area, at least two restaurants have stepped up to help those in need.

HaveABURGER in Havertown and Original Eagle Pizza in Ardmore are giving away free food.

HaveABURGER — located at 1002 Darby Road, No. 3616, in Havertown — is offering one free Jr. Burger Meal for kids when a parent or guardian shows their EBT card to the cashier.

This is only available in-store and not applicable to online orders.

"No questions, no judgment — we just want to make sure kids in our neighborhood are fed and supported during this time," owner Leo Osmanollaj said on social media. "We care about this community and we’re here to help in any way we can."

And Original Eagle Pizza — 2343 Haverford Road in Ardmore — is offering one free small cheese pizza Monday through Friday.

This is available for anyone who presents proof of identification and an EBT card when ordering.

The deal will be honored with no questions asked, according to a social media post from the business.
