Shooting At Delco University Over Weekend: Police

A man from Philadelphia who was visiting the school suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound Saturday night, according to news reports.

THORNBURY TOWNSHIP, PA — Pennsylvania State Police investigating a shooting at a Delaware County university over the weekend.

According to state police, troopers and local police were called to Cheyney University in Thornbury Township at about 11 p.m. Saturday for a report of a shooting.

State police said a 19-year-old man who was visiting the school from Philadelphia suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

Police also said a possible DUI crash happened over the weekend at Cheyney.

A visitor to the campus was trying to leave when they hit several cars in a parking lot, police said.

Their actions are being investigated as a DUI incident.

While five cars were damaged in the crash, no one was hurt, police said.

These two incidents, which were not related and isolated according to police, occurred during Cheyney's end-of-year spring celebration.
