7 to Be Inducted Into Athletic Dept. Hall of Fame
The 2013 Saucon Valley Athletic Department Hall of Fame inductees are Douglas W. Koch, Doug Brown, Jerry Rodriguez, Sheri Hershey, William Hershey, Michael Anderson and Joseph Killar.

The Saucon Valley Athletic Department is privileged to announce its 2013 Hall of Fame class. The class of 2013 will be inducted during the Saucon Valley Athletic Awards Ceremony to be held on Wednesday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Saucon Valley High School Auditorium.

A PIAA State Champion at Liberty High School and an Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Champion at Lehigh University, Doug joined Saucon Valley Head Coach Charles Bartolet in 1964 and would continue as Saucon Valley’s Assistant Coach until 1985. During his 20-plus-year coaching career, Doug helped secure 86 individual and team Wrestling Championships at Saucon Valley. Doug is also a member of the District XI Wrestling Hall of Fame. In addition to his coaching career, Doug spent 35 years in the Saucon Valley School District as a teacher and administrator.
Doug Brown (Basketball) – Saucon Valley Class of 1976

A league scoring champion in 1975 and 1976, Doug finished his Basketball career at Saucon Valley with 1,627 points, a Saucon Valley record that would stand for 24 years. Doug continued his career at Elizabethtown College, where he scored 1,384 points, was a multiple year league all star and was the Middle Atlantic Conference MVP in 1979. During his career at Elizabethtown, Doug was nationally ranked as a free throw shooter, never recording a free throw percentage under 89 percent. Doug is also a member of the Elizabethtown College Hall of Fame, the Lehigh Valley Basketball Hall of Fame and the Lehigh Valley Sports Hall of Fame.
Jerry Rodriguez (Wrestling) – Saucon Valley Class of 1977
A three time District XI Champion (1975, 1976, 1977), a three time Southeast Regional Champion (1975, 1976, 1977) and a two time PIAA State Champion (1976, 1977), Jerry ranks as one of Saucon Valley’s elite wrestlers in school history. Jerry was one of three wrestlers to win PIAA gold in 1976 on Saucon Valley’s way to a PIAA team wrestling championship. Jerry is a member of the Morning Call’s All Time District XI Wrestling team, the District XI Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Lehigh Valley Sports Hall of Fame.
Sheri Hershey (Field Hockey, Basketball, Track & Field) – Saucon Valley Class of 1980
A stellar athlete in three sports, Sheri set a Colonial League Record in the 800m run with a time of 2:20.24, a record that would stand for 32 years. Sheri would cap off the 1980 season with a 800m time of 2:13.12 in the PIAA State Meet, earning a PIAA State Championship. In the sport of Field Hockey, Sheri was a 1979 All American before continuing her career at Mt. St. Mary’s, where she would earn All Maryland honors in 1981, 1982 and 1983.
William Hershey (Wrestling) – Saucon Valley Class of 1982
A two time District XI Wrestling Champion (1982, 1982), a two time Southeast Regional Champion (1981, 1982) and a PIAA State Champion in 1982, William earned 106 wins during his Saucon Valley Wrestling Career, becoming the first Saucon Valley Wrestler to eclipse the 100 career win mark.
Michael Anderson (Football, Basketball, Baseball) – Saucon Valley Class of 1990
A talented three sport athlete, Mike excelled on the Football Field, Basketball Court and Baseball Diamond, earning 1st team all league honors in each sport. In 1990, Mike became Saucon Valley’s 7th career 1,000 point scorer, ending his career with 1,099 points. On the mound Mike became one of the area’s most dominant pitchers, helping to lead Saucon Valley to its first District XI Baseball Championship in 1990. Mike was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 1992 Amateur Draft, spending several years in the minor leagues. Mike is also a member of the Northampton County Legion Baseball Hall of Fame.
Joseph Killar (Wrestling) – Saucon Valley Class of 1996
A student athlete in the best respect, Joe excelled both as an athlete and in the classroom. Saucon Valley’s all time leading rusher in football with 3,299 career yards was also a two time District XI Wrestling Champion (1994, 1995), a two time Southeast Regional Champion (1995, 1996) and a PIAA State AA Wrestling Champion (1996). In 1996 Joe was the Lehigh Valley Chapter’s selection for the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete of the Year. Joe continued his career at Harvard University, where he was a two time EIWA Champion and a two time wrestling All American. Joe is also a member of the District XI Wrestling Hall of Fame.
