A Perfect Day to Celebrate Community [Photos]
The 12th annual Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day was held Saturday in Dimmick Park. Hundreds of Saucon Valley residents flocked there to enjoy food, entertainment, activities and fun with friends.
Highlights of the 12th annual Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day, which was held Saturday in Dimmick Park, included a car show, live music performed by The Deadliners, raffles, activities for kids, dance performances by students from En Avant School of Dance, dozens of vendor and nonprofit booths, a K-9 demonstration by the Lower Saucon Township Police Department, a bike/helmet/backpack raffle by the Hellertown Police Department, a martial arts demonstration, food, and the presentation of awards to Bob Hohman, owner of Se-Wy-Co Beverage in Lower Saucon Township, and Bob Matey, who founded what is today the Matey-Medei Agency in Hellertown.
The volunteers who helped resurrect Hellertown's Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397 were also recognized for their hard work.
Longtime Community Day volunteer and Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce board member Bud Prosser was also honored for his contributions to the success of the event.
The annual event is sponsored by the chamber.
