Authors to Talk About 'Power of the Pen' at Market

An author event will be held at the Saucon Valley Farmers' Market in Hellertown this Sunday from 9am to 1pm.

Along with piles of carrots and beets, this Sunday at the there will be piles of something else that's rich in fiber--books!

"Power of the Pen" is an annual event that helps area authors find exposure for their works, and six authors will be in attendance at this weekend's market.

Marisa McClellan, author of the popular guide to canning "Food In Jars." McClellan will be leading a demonstration at 11am and signing copies of her book at noon. McClellan will also be appearing at the  in Kintnersville later in the day.

Joseph O. McLaughlin, a Bethlehem resident for the past 63 years. McLaughlin is author of "The Die Is Cast," a memoir is about his Depression-era childhood in Philadelphia's Fishtown neighborhood and his military service during World War II.

James Strait, a Bucks County resident and the author of "Weird Missouri" and "Déjà Vu All Over Again."

Stephen M. Goosley, a Fountain Hill resident and the author of "Fishing With Steve."

Larry Deibert, a Saucon Valley resident and the author of "Requiem For A Vampire" and "Combat Boots, Dainty Feet: Finding Love in Vietnam."

Jack Hillman, an eastern Pennsylvania resident and the author of "There Are Giants In This Valley" and "Giants Want the Lost River."

Also at the market this weekend:

  • will be selling hot dogs and personalized keepsake gifts as a fundraiser.
  • THe GFWC-PA Saucon Valley Woman's Club will be selling its beer bread and bean soup mixes as a fundraiser.
