Body Found in Pocono Woods Could Be That of Missing Hellertown Man

Three men hunting near the Tannersville Cranberry Bog Preserve off Hallet Road in Pocono Township, Monroe County, came upon remains that could be those of a 64-year-old Hellertown man who went missing about two months ago.

On Monday, three men hunting near the Tannersville Cranberry Bog Preserve off Hallet Road in Pocono Township, Monroe County, came upon remains that could be those of a 64-year-old Hellertown man who went missing about two months ago, the Morning Call reported.

According to the story, there appeared to be no signs of trauma to the body, but determining the cause and manner of death will require an autopsy.

The Express-Times reported that the man was found next to a quilt—as though he had been sleeping in the woods—and that a car registered to the missing Hellertown man was found in a ditch not far from the remains.

Dental records will be used to positively identify the body.
