Borough Officer Wins 'Most DUIs' Award

Hellertown Police Chief Robert Shupp told Borough Council July 16 that Officer Carl Fischer was this year's recipient of a county award given to the police officer with the most DUI arrests.

Hellertown police officers are diligently enforcing the laws that exist to help keep area roads safe, and their efforts have been recognized outside the borough, Police Chief Robert Shupp told Borough Council July 16.

Shupp said that Officer Carl Fischer was recently the recipient of a certificate of appreciation for recording the most DUI arrests in the county, while Officer Tim Piotrowski was the recipient of an award for issuing the most traffic tickets.

"I just thought that was good," Shupp said of the awards. "It shows they're out there. It shows they're enforcing (the laws)."

He added that a Hellertown police officer was also last year's recipient of the Most DUI Arrests certificate of appreciation.
