Boy Scouts 'Scouting For Food' in Allentown

The Boy Scouts will lead a food drive to help local pantries, soup kitchens, and food banks stock up before the holidays.

Please join the Boy Scouts of America-Minsi Trails Council, WFMZ and Bishop John Barres, of the Diocese of Allentown for a press conference as they kick off the 2014 Scouting For Food community food drive.

For 2014, the local Scouts have teamed up with Channel 69, Blue Mountain, the Diocese of Allentown, and many other area businesses to help collect food for local food pantries, soup kitchens, and food banks. This year’s goal is to collect more than 200,000 pounds of food for area hungry.

  • Scouts will distribute door-hangers on Saturday November 1, 2014 with information on the food drive
  • For residents receiving the door hangers, Scouts will then collect food on Saturday morning
  • Public food donation drop-off boxes are available from November 1st to 15th at several area business, Wegmans food stores, Ray Price Car Dealerships, Lafayette Ambassador Bank and Team Capital Bank branches, United Way of the Lehigh Valley, and the Minsi Trails Council
  • Only non-perishable food items are being accepted – nothing fresh or frozen, and no glass jars.
