Council OKs Request for 'School Bus Stop Ahead' Signage

Lower Saucon Township Council recently approved a recommendation to send a letter to PennDOT requesting that 'School Bus Stop Ahead' and 'Hidden Driveway' signs be approved for placement at designated locations along Seidersville Road.

Lower Saucon Township Council unanimously approved a recommendation to send a letter to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation requesting that "School Bus Stop Ahead" and "Hidden Driveway" road signs be approved for placement at designated locations along Seidersville Road between Fire Lane and Old Philadelphia Pike.

At a council meeting in October, township manager Jack Cahalan explained that the request to install the signs is part of a proposal to help improve safety along the section of Seidersville Road located between Old Philadelphia Pike and the Salisbury Township, Lehigh County line.

That section of the two-lane road is both hilly and narrow.

Another part of the proposal is a request to lower the speed limit from 35 mph, which was recommended to council by Lower Saucon Township Police Chief Guy Lesser over the summer.

The Saucon Valley School District has already approved the locations where the signs would be placed, council was told.

PennDOT's approval is needed because Seidersville Road is a state road.
