Dispose of Pills, Electronics in Lower Saucon Saturday

Lower Saucon Township will host free e-recycling and prescription drug take-back events on Saturday, April 27.

This Saturday, April 27, Lower Saucon Township will host two events to help residents properly dispose of items that shouldn't end up in landfills--electronics and prescription medications.

From 9am to noon (rain or shine), a free E-Recycling Drop-Off Event will be held at the township municipal complex's Public Works Garage, 3700 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bethlehem.

Items such as microwaves, air conditioners, ceiling fans, refrigerators and scrap metal will be accepted.

From 10am to 2pm, the Lower Saucon Township Police Department will host a free Prescription Drug Take-Back Initiative at its headquarters in the municipal complex.

According to an informational flyer, the initiative represents "an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction."

Both prescriptions and over-the-counter medications will be accepted, and the program is anonymous.

Participants will need to remove any personal information from their pill bottles or packages before disposing of them in a box that will be available.
