Edna C. (Kaplin) Ball Zehner, 83, of Lower Saucon [Obituary]

Edna C. (Kaplin) Ball Zehner died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.

Edna C. (Kaplin) Ball Zehner, 83, of Lower Saucon Township died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at St. Luke's University Hospital & Health Network, Fountain Hill. She was the wife of the late Walter Randall Zehner. Born in Philadelphia on July 14, 1930, to the late Edwin H. and Edna C. I. (Ditsche) Kaplin, Edna was a graduate of Upper Moreland High School, where she was the head drum majorette, and later obtained an associate degree in liberal arts. She was a bank teller in Schwenksville for many years until retiring. Edna was a member of the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown, where she was a past lector and catechist at the church. She also was an accomplished artist whose work was displayed in many galleries. Edna was a long-time volunteer at the Lehigh University Art Gallery and Zoellner Arts Center.

Loving children: Edna Ball Axelrod and her husband Robert Axelrod of South Orange, N.J., and their children: Daniel and Jeremy; Joan Marie and her husband Edward Ruttenberg of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and their children: David, Michael and Sarah; Patricia Ann and her husband Ronald Donoso of Raubsville and their children: Stacey, Matthew, Alexander and Rebecca; John D. Ball III of Australia and his daughter Miranda; Deborah L. and her husband Lee Otte of Seymour, Ind.; Sharon G. and her husband Bryan Huseman of Chesterton, Ind., and their son Christopher; Linda C. Kilavos of Valparaiso, Ind., and her children: John, Hallie and Thomas; brother: Edwin H. Kaplin of Nashville, Tenn.; nephew: Karl "Fats" Kaplin of Nashville, Tenn.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Mausoleum, Bethlehem. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
