Edward J. Deegan Sr., 87, Former Se-Wy-Co Fire Chief [Obituary]

Edward J. Deegan Sr., 87, of Lower Saucon Township died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Township. He was the husband of Janet I. (Clauser) Deegan. He was born in Fountain Hill on July 6, 1925 to the late Francis and Lucy (Merwarth) Deegan. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during World War II. Edward worked for Union Special, Chicago as a sewing machine mechanic and sales representative for many years until retiring. He was of the Catholic faith. Edward was a past chief of the Se-Wy-Co Fire Company.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife of 61 years; children: Edward J. Jr. (Lisa), Patrick J. (Chrystal), David T. (Carylann Graham) all of Bethlehem, John P. (Donna Braslow) of Hellertown; siblings: Suzanne (Daniel) Cressman, Jane (Thomas) Jones all of Allentown, MaryAnn (Julius) Ruggeri, Kay Nunzio, William (Rhoda) Deegan, Dorothea (Carl) Sewald all of Bethlehem; Margie Wilbur in Florida; grandchildren: Tabitha, Jessica and Courtney. He was predeceased by a brother: Joseph.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 to 11am Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11am. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
