Fountain Restoration Project Under Way
Trees around the fountain in Hellertown's Borough Authority Park have been removed so an ambitious restoration of the stone centerpiece can begin.
The first phase of an ambitious fountain restoration project began at Hellertown's Borough Authority Park Tuesday with the removal of six large trees that encircle the layer cake-like structure.
The removal of the trees was donated as an in-kind service by local arborist Joshua Tree, and the entire project is volunteer-driven, coordinator Joe Delfoe told Hellertown Borough Council April 1.
Delfoe—a well-known borough volunteer himself—told council "it's nice that something's happening for the community."

His council-supported plan for the restoration of the fountain calls for the addition of lighting that will showcase the water feature for nighttime passers-by.
Delfoe previously told council the fountain project will be completed in phases, and will hopefully be concluded in time for the park's fiftieth anniversary in 2015.
