Girl Allegedly Kicked, Spat on Police Officers

A teen girl is accused of assaulting several Hellertown police officers after allegedly locking one of her parents out of their house in police have characterized as a disturbance.

In a press release issued Friday, police said officers responded to the home in the 1000 block of Third Avenue at 3:05pm Aug. 8.

"Once police made contact with the juvenile, she became out of control and...several officers were kicked and spit on," police said.

Neither the officers nor the girl were injured, they added.

The girl, who is 15, was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation and has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct, according to authorities.
