Helen D. Metter of Center Valley [Obituary]
Helen D. Metter passed away peacefully on July 12, 2013.

Helen D. Metter passed away peacefully on July 12, 2013 in Center Valley. She was born Helen Mabel Denney in Germantown, Philadelphia, on Feb. 9, 1926 to George McCann Denney and Dorothy May Hunter. She married Charles William Metter on Sept. 13, 1947, and had three children: Charles William Metter Jr., Robert Bruce Metter and Laura Metter Hall. She raised her children in Mountain Lakes, N.J., and Barrington, Ill. Helen was a homemaker and watercolor artist, and as her children grew older she earned her associate’s degree in art at Harper College in Palatine, Ill. When Bill retired, they returned to Princeton, N.J., where they had lived as newlyweds. Helen and Bill were married for 47 years before Bill passed away in 1994.
SURVIVORS
Helen is survived by her sister June Garrett and husband William Garrett, her three children and their spouses, Joan Tufts Metter (Charles), Augusta Seiler Metter (Robert) and Harold Hershey Hall Jr. (Laura), and the seven grandchildren she adored: Jeffrey and Alison Metter, Robert Jr. and Lauren Metter, and Thomas, Harry and Annie Hall. Helen was funny, vivacious, well-read, warm and loving, and very close to her family and her dearest friends. She made friends everywhere she went. Her favorite summer place since she was a child was the beach in Ocean City, N.J., and she probably only missed going there a handful of her 87 years. She was a dear mother, loved, and will be missed very much.
