Hellertonian Wins State Education Award
Hellertown resident and East Stroudsburg teacher Michael Healey was recently the recipient of the 2013 Pennsylvania State Education Association Excellence Award for Human Rights and Civil Rights in Educational Leadership.

A Hellertown resident who is a teacher at East Stroudsburg High School South was recently the recipient of the 2013 Pennsylvania State Education Association Excellence Award for Human Rights and Civil Rights in Educational Leadership, the Pocono Record reported.
Michael Healey was honored with the award because of his advisement of a social justice/global citizenship student group called ASPIRE, which the newspaper reported has raised funds for cancer support, volunteered at food banks and collected items for local HIV/AIDS-affected families, among other projects.
