Hillcrest Court Man Allegedly Punched Girlfriend in Face

Hellertown Police say Paul Henry Scherbaum, 35, of 1451 Hillcrest Court, assaulted his girlfriend July 4.

A 35-year-old Hellertown man assaulted his girlfriend on Independence Day, according to .

In a press release, police said they were dispatched for a domestic dispute to 1451 Hillcrest Court at 11:30pm July 4.

Once there police said they spoke to a woman who "stated that she was assaulted by her boyfriend, Paul Henry Scherbaum."

Authorities said the woman claimed that Scherbaum, of 1451 Hillcrest Court, had punched her in the face.

According to the press release, "police did observe the victim's face to be swollen."

Following an investigation Scherbaum was taken into custody on charges of simple assault (domestic) and harassment.

Police said he was arraigned before District Judge Nancy Matos Gonzalez and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $7,500 bail.
