Motorcyclist, Officer Hurt in Pursuit-Related Crash

A police chase that apparently began in Lower Saucon Township ended on Route 378 near Preston Lane in Upper Saucon Township Thursday night, when a Lower Saucon patrol car collided with the motorcycle it was pursuing.

According to the Morning Call, the motorcyclist was badly injured in the accident, which remains under investigation.

WFMZ News reported that the Lower Saucon Township officer—who has not been identified—was also hurt, and was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

The police officer has since been released, the Express-Times reported.

The motorcyclist involved in the accident has not been named.

In August 2011, Lower Saucon Township Police reported that officers voluntarily terminated their pursuit of a motorcyclist into Williams Township.
