New Murray Motors to Have Customer Focus

Dan Dortic is in the process of reopening the Main Street used car center as Murray Motors of Hellertown.

New owner Dan Dortic has some changes in mind for Murray Motors, and he thinks customers are going to like them.

For one thing, the business will only employ non-commissioned salespeople, which Dortic said will help create a more relaxed atmosphere for potential car-buyers. And for added peace of mind, any warranty sold along with a Murray Motors vehicle will be serviceable anywhere, he said.

Dortic, of Hellertown, recently purchased the landmark Main Street used car center and is now in the process of reopening it as Murray Motors of Hellertown.

In a recent email, he said the doors will officially open on Monday, April 8.

The transition will be complete with the introduction of a new management and sales team, as well as a shift in focus to sales of used cars in the $6,000 to $16,000 price range, Dortic said during a recent interview in renovated offices.

That said, he explained that Murray Motors staff will be happy to assist buyers in every price range with locating the cars of their dreams.

An upstate New York native, Dortic has lived in Hellertown for more than a decade and has 20 years of experience in automobile sales.

In addition to Murray Motors, he also owns Major Hyundai—a new car dealership in Stroudsburg.

Before becoming a businessman and entrepreneur, Dortic served in the U.S. Army and Air Force for a total of eight years.

After that he began several business ventures.

"I tried a little bit of everything, because I really didn't know what I wanted to do," he recalled.

A decision to relocate near his wife's family prompted their move to Saucon Valley in 2002, and that's where the Dortics have raised their two children, who attend local schools.

"This is a good, solid, working community," he said, adding that Murray Motors of Hellertown will complement the local business landscape by being "a good quality car dealership."

"We want to really develop a good relationship in the community," he stressed.

In addition to being a businessman, Dortic said he devotes much time to charitable work, such as fundraising on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Eastern Pennsylvania.

Last year that organization named him its "Man of the Year" in recognition of his efforts, and Dortic said that together with his Director of Operations, Jay Charlie, he has raised $110,000 for the fight against leukemia and lymphoma.

Their ambitious goal is to raise a total of $1 million over a decade.

Dortic is also a board member of the Blazeman Foundation for ALS, which is focused on finding a cure for the disease also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

He said he plans to host a community open house at Murray Motors upon its reopening, as a way of reintroducing the business to Saucon Valley residents.
