John Joseph Hobbs, 73, of Steel City, Lower Saucon Township died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012.

John Joseph Hobbs, 73, of Steel City, Lower Saucon Township, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Mahanoy Plane on May 1, 1939 to the late John and Helen (Regan) Hobbs. John was preceded in death by his wife Joan M. (Norcavage) Hobbs who passed in 2002. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during peacetime. He worked at the blast furnaces of the former Bethlehem Steel for many years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City casinos and the Sands Casino, Bethlehem. John also frequented the Valley Family Restaurant, Bethlehem.
Survivors:
Children: Ann M. wife of Joseph M. McShea of Manassas, Va., and John P. Hobbs husband of Heather L. of Steel City; grandson: Zachary; sister: Margaret Ann Gawley of Malvern. John was preceded in death by sisters, Jeannie Mikalauskas and Helen Sam.
