Parent Prom Raises Almost $13,000 for Education Foundation

The third annual Saucon Valley Foundation for Educational Parent Prom, which was held at The Meadows in Lower Saucon Township March 9, raised nearly $13,000 for the foundation's educational initiatives.

A fundraising "Parent Prom" with a James Bond theme recently raised nearly $13,000 for the general fund of the Saucon Valley Foundation for Educational Innovation, a nonprofit organization that funds extracurricular programs and other educational initiatives in the .

According to a press release from the foundation, was held at March 9 and included a cocktail hour, a silent auction, a live auction, raffles, Bond-themed music by DJ John DeBard, dinner and dancing.

"Guests dressed as their favorite Bond or Bond girl," the foundation said. "More than 60 auction items included a Martin guitar, a time share in St. Martin in the Caribbean, jewelry, sports-themed memorabilia and school items."

The third annual Parent Prom was the most successful to date, the group said, and brings the three-year fundraising total from the dinner dances to nearly $35,000.

Volunteers spent months planning the prom, which was also made possible by donations from local businesses, residents, and members of the school district community.

Since its founding in 2007, the foundation said it has raised more than $250,000 and funded .
