Planners Approve Accounting Office at 1012 Main Street
The accounting office will serve the adjacent Saucon Valley Manor, as well as Whitehall Manor. A site plan presented June 12 won unanimous approval from Hellertown planners.
A site plan for an accounting office inside a former residence at 1012 Main Street, Hellertown, was unanimously approved by borough planners June 12.
David Hart, vice president of land development for Pennsylvania Venture Capital, told the planning commission that the building will house the accounting department for both and Whitehall manors, which are assisted living facilities for seniors.
Saucon Valley Manor is adjacent to the former residence and will provide auxiliary parking in its lot, although Hart said parking should not be an issue since just three employees will work out of 1012 Main Street and there is off-street parking for two vehicles in a garage.

The third employee will park at Saucon Valley Manor, according to Hart.
"We don't anticipate that there will be any visitors to the facility," he said.

"We don't propose any signage. We don't propose any outward change to the building," he added.
Engineer Robert Korp, of Barry Isett and Associates, told the planning commission that the proposed use is a permitted use within the mixed use zoning district that the building occupies.
"If a Dumpster is proposed that should be coordinated with (the borough's department of) public works," he told Hart and Mickey Thompson, chief operating officer for Pennsylvania Venture Capital.
Borough Manager Cathy Kichline asked Korp if an additional street tree will be required by ordinance, since the property has 50 feet of frontage on Main Street.
One street tree is already planted in front of the building, she said.
Thompson said that if it's determined that another street tree needs to be planted, it will not be a problem.
As a condition of approval, planners stipulated that another tree be planted if required by the borough ordinance.
