'Poet of the People' to Visit NCC

Jimmy Santiago Baca, who learned to read and write in prison, has transformed himself into an internationally acclaimed author. He will read at NCC's Bethlehem campus on April 11.

Northampton Community College (NCC) has announced that its annual Len Roberts Poetry Day will be held Thursday, April 11 from 11am to noon on its Main Campus in the Lipkin Theatre, Kopecek Hall, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem.

The event honors the memory of the late poet and NCC professor Len Roberts.

The highlight of this year's Poetry Day will be a visit by poet Jimmy Santiago Baca.

Baca, who learned to read and write in prison, has transformed himself into an internationally acclaimed author, activist, motivator, teacher and "poet of the people," the school said in a press release.
