Hellertown police say a 15-year-old boy "became out of control" after officers responded to his home when he refused to go to school.

According to a press release, a 15-year-old resident of the first block of Kiernan Avenue "became out of control" the morning of May 30, after officers responded to his home when he refused to go to school.

"Upon arrival the juvenile became out of control and pushed his mother, causing injury to her foot," police said. The boy then allegedly assaulted an officer, although the officer was not injured, according to the release.

After being taken into custody, the teen was charged with aggravated assault (a felony), simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
