Police: Man Threatened, Cursed and Antagonized Officer

Lower Saucon Township police say Charles A. Kline Jr., 38, of Steel City, was cited for disorderly conduct for allegedly threatening a township police officer following a Feb. 24 traffic stop.

Following a Feb. 24 traffic stop on Riverside Drive, a township man's allegedly antagonistic behavior landed him in more hot water than he otherwise would have been, according to a Lower Saucon Township Police Department press release issued Sunday.

According to the press release, Charles A. Kline Jr., 38, of the 2100 block of Schwab Avenue, Steel City, was stopped at 10:35pm for "almost crashing into a guardrail."

Police said that after Kline was stopped "he was very belligerent from the beginning," in spite of the fact that the officer who stopped him determined that drugs or alcohol were not factors in the near-accident.

According to police, as the officer was writing Kline a warning for a traffic violation, Kline "began cursing and threatening the officer," which resulted in the warning being upped to a citation.

After this, Kline became "even angrier," police said, "and after being issued the citation, (he) refused to leave when he was free to go."

"Instead, he threatened the officer more, cursed more, and antagonized (the officer)," police continued.

Subsequently, the officer removed Kline from his vehicle "for officer safety," police said, adding that Kline allegedly had a screwdriver near him while he was inside his car.

Once outside the vehicle, police said Kline "got nose to nose with the officer, cursed, and threatened (him) more."

Kline was then issued a citation for disorderly conduct.

"He then chose to leave after that," police concluded.
