The Reverend Fred P. Knieriem died Monday, May 13, 2013.

The Reverend Fred P. Knieriem, 88, of Allentown, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Dolores Martha (Wasser) Knieriem, who died Jan. 31, 1991. He was born in Tamaqua on Oct. 26, 1924 to the late Frederick Grover and Martha Marie (Witzel) Knieriem. Rev. Knieriem most recently worshiped at Presbyterian Church (USA) of Catasauqua. He was a 1942 graduate of Tamaqua High School; AB in 1945 from Ursinus College, Collegeville; BD in 1947 from Lancaster Theological Seminary, Lancaster; STM in 1949 from Harvard Divinity School, Cambridge, Mass.; graduate study from 1953 to 1956 at Union Theological Seminary, New York, N.Y.; auditor, 1992 to 2013 at Moravian Theological Seminary, Bethlehem; Nov. 20, 1949, ordained to the ministry of the Evangelical & Reformed Church by the Synod of Reading; 1949-51, Pastor of Christ E&R Church, Allentown; 1951-52, Assistant Pastor, Zion E&R Church, South Bend, Ind.; 1952-53, Minister of E&R Congregational Students, Penn State University, State College; 1953-56, Executive Secretary, Student Christian Movement of Queens & Nassau Counties, Long Island, N.Y.; 1956-61, Director of Christian Education, South Presbyterian Church, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.; April 21, 1959, received into Presbytery of Westchester (later Hudson River); 1961-63, Pastor, First United Presbyterian Church, Marlborough, N.Y.; 1963-91, Pastor Gilead Presbyterian Church (USA), Carmel, N.Y.; May 18, 1997, installed as Pastor Emeritus; Honorably Retired: Aug. 31, 1991; transferred to Lehigh Presbytery: Nov, 26, 1991.Â
SURVIVORS
Loving daughter: Martha Lynn wife of Gregory March of Montvale, N.J., and a granddaughter: Victoria Ann. Adoring sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.Â

MEMORIAL SERVICE
A celebration of Rev. Knieriem’s life will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 210 Pine St., Catasauqua, PA 18032. INTERMENT
Interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua at the convenience of the family.Â
