Robert J. Joyce, 86, of Hellertown, Was a WWII Veteran [Obituary]

Robert J. Joyce , 86, of Hellertown, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at St. Luke's University Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of the late Patricia Mary (Smith) Joyce, who passed away on June 29, 2005. He was born in Shamokin on Sept. 13, 1926 to the late Vincent and Helen (Heinemann) Joyce. Robert served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army and Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He owned and operated a jewelry business for many years. He previously was an agent for The Prudential Life Insurance Company for 23 years. Robert was a member of the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown, the Elks for more than 50 years, and the American Legion for more than 60 years. 

SURVIVORS

Son: Brian R. Joyce and his wife Cynthia L. of Allentown; siblings: Marcella Zator of Salisbury, Md., Vincent W. Joyce and his wife Marlene of McConnellsburg; grandchildren: William B. Joyce of Lower Macungie and Emily Ann Letcher of Wilmington, Del. He was predeceased by a daughter: Ann Patricia Joyce.  

SERVICE

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at the church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment with military honors will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
