Saucon Valley Food Swap Seeking Participants

The first Saucon Valley Food Swap will be held Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at 2pm.

Are you harvesting more tomatoes or zucchini than you know what you do with? Do you expect to have a bounty of baked goods or a cornucopia of canned food?

If you are blessed with "too much" of anything edible at this time of year, you should know that the first-ever Saucon Valley Food Swap is being planned for Sunday, Sept. 16 at 2pm, and participants are being sought.

A food swap is an event where "members of a community share homemade, homegrown, or foraged foods with each other," according to LA Food Swap.

"We are looking for participants who might want to swap jellies, jams, fruits, veggies, (or) whatever you have an abundance of," Saucon Valley Food Swap organizer Shelley Goldberg said.

Participation in the swap isn't limited to local residents, either.

"We have people signed up from Bethlehem and Emmaus," Goldberg said. "The more the merrier!"

Registration is required, and interested persons should email Goldberg at sgold1111@aol.com or organizer Amy Lookenbill at amylookenbill@gmail.com for more information.

The address for the event will then be provided to those who sign up.
