Spurgeon B. 'Spuds' Barndt died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013.

Spurgeon B. "Spuds" Barndt, 81, of Lower Saucon Township, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital-Anderson Campus, Bethlehem Township. He was the husband of the late Shirley M. (Heater) Barndt, who passed away on Aug. 10, 2010. He was born in Lower Saucon Township on Oct. 8, 1931 to the late Leon L. Barndt and Sadie L. (Egolf) Leith. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an underground lineman for the Pennsylvania Power and Light Co., Allentown for many years until retiring in 1993. He was a member of Saucon Valley Community Center, Hellertown. Spuds helped donate blankets to the Center for Animal Health & Welfare, Williams Township.
SURVIVORS
Daughters: Sandra L. wife of James D. Yackanicz, Sally L. wife of Philip G. Keil, all of Bethlehem; siblings: Arlene Edna Buki of Allentown, Houston W. and his wife Thelma A. of Bethlehem; grandchildren: Brian J. and Matthew L. Yackanicz, Megan E. and Shane A. Keil, and grandpuppy Greta. He was predeceased by siblings: George H., Orrin A, Leslie, Virginia Diehl and infant granddaughter: LeAnn Nicole Yackanicz.

SERVICE
Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at the funeral home. The interment will conclude services at Woodland Cemetery, Upper Saucon Township.
