Student T-Shirt Design Contest Announced

The deadline for the contest--which is open to all Saucon Valley students--is March 30, 2012.

If you're the parent of an artistic Saucon Valley student, you might want to tell your child about a t-shirt contest that will help define the image of the district's .

The first annual Saucon Valley Environmental Education Center (SVEEC) t-shirt contest is being sponsored by the Saucon Valley Foundation for Educational Innovation (SVFEI), and is open to all district students. One winner will be chosen from the , the and the , respectively.

Each winner's design will be displayed at an April 20 launch party for the SVEEC, with judges under the direction of Saucon Valley faculty choosing a grand prize winner from among the three finalists based upon merit and creativity.

T-shirts will also be available for purchase at the launch party, which will be held in the middle school gymnasium, the SVFEI announced.

The grand prize winner will receive an iPod Touch and have his or her artwork appear on the official 2012 SVEEC t-shirt, while the two runners-up will each receive a $25 iTunes gift card.

The deadline to enter the contest--which requires parental permission--is March 30, 2012, and the following rules apply:

  • Each student is limited to one entry.
  • Submissions must be original.
  • Submissions must be inspired by nature and conservation themes.
  • A maximum of three colors (including black) should be used.
  • Each design entry should be drawn on plain 8.5 by 11-inch white paper, and should not exceed these dimensions: 8 by 10 inches.
  • Artwork may be initialed, but full names should not be used as signatures.
  • The artwork should only be done in pen or marker.

Designs will not be returned, and by entering the contest each artist grants the SVFEI permission to display and publish their work.

"The foundation’s vision is to provide creative and innovative learning opportunities for students and teachers that are beyond the scope of the school budget," according to its mission statement.
