TV Show Hosts Plan to 'Pick' PA Antique Collections

The pickers are coming, the pickers are coming!

No, not "those" kind of pickers.... The "American Pickers," aka Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, are coming to Pennsylvania. And they're looking to peruse private collections for a wide variety of unusual and collectible items, with an eye to buy.

According to a press release from Cineflix Inc., the producer of the popular History Channel reality TV show, "(American Pickers) offers a fascinating insight into what it’s like to be the men on the ground who are on the frontlines of the antique industry."

"The show follows the pickers in their truck as they go on a mission in search of America’s most fascinating and valuable antiques--treasures that have been long forgotten in junkyards and barns across the country," Cineflix said. "The team tracks down unique and interesting items from motorcycles, classic cars and bicycles to one-of-a-kind vintage memorabilia."

According to Cineflix producers, Wolfe and Fritz will be looking for a number of specialty items when they visit the Keystone State, including: motor scooters, motorcycles, classic motorcycle memorabilia, bicycles (turn-of-the-century to 1950s), old advertising signage, Houdini items, old toys, vintage movie memorabilia, early Boy Scout items, casino tables, folk art, early Halloween items, airline collectibles, vintage sports collectibles, pre-1940s telephones, old rodeo items, "strange" woodcarvings, pinball and slot machines, pre-1950s vending machines, taxidermy, "unusual" radios, vintage concert posters and t-shirts, pre-1960s diner collectibles, pre-1960s TV merchandise, pre-1950s western/equestrian gear, vintage BB and cap guns, vintage police officer collectibles, "extraordinary" mobster memorabilia, military items from the late 1970s and earlier, pre-1940s Christmas items, musical instruments, Civil War antiques, vintage gas pumps, pre-1970s neon signs, vintage collegiate collectibles,"Hawaiiana" and Tiki collectibles, and vintage election memorabilia.

The two traveling collectors are not currently in the market for farming/agriculture items, appliances, tools, glassware, crocks, stoves, tractors and "country primitives," Cineflix said.

Wolfe and Fritz only pick private collections, so stores, flea markets, museums, auctions, businesses and anything open to the public will not be considered.
